1. Overview
FastMike is a professional photo editing and instant-printing application designed for event photographers who need to process and print large numbers of photographs quickly.
Its core workflow is:
Import → Select → Crop → Adjust → Copy Settings → Print → Continue
The application is focused on speed, simplicity, reliability and immediate response, rather than being a general-purpose photo editor.

2. Main Interface
FastMike uses a modern dark UI divided into three main areas.
Left — Original Photos
A vertical thumbnail panel showing the imported photographs.
Click a thumbnail to select it.
The selected photo receives a red border.
Original images remain unchanged.
Center — Editing Area
The selected photograph appears in a large preview with a fixed 15×20 crop frame.
The frame remains stationary while the photograph moves behind it.
Anything outside the frame is completely hidden.
Bottom — Edited Photos
Processed photographs appear below the main preview as thumbnails, arranged in two rows of five.
These represent the edited/print-ready versions.
Right — Adjustments
The right panel contains:
Brightness
Highlights
Contrast
Shadows
Each has a slider and an individual Reset icon rather than a "Reset" text button.
Changes must appear immediately.

3. 15×20 Crop System
FastMike works with the 15×20 cm print format.
The crop frame is fixed. The user moves and zooms the photograph behind it.
Controls
Left-click + Drag: move the photograph.
Mouse Wheel: zoom.
The crop frame itself does not move.
Everything outside the frame is hidden.
The frame can also be rotated by 90° using a control located under the adjustment panel.
When rotated, only the frame rotates, not the photograph.
This allows both:
15×20 portrait
20×15 landscape

4. Zoom and Pan
Zoom and image movement must be instant and smooth, even with high-resolution photographs.
Normal mouse-wheel scrolling over the photograph controls zoom.
Zoom should preferably occur around the mouse pointer position.
Dragging must move the photograph smoothly behind the crop frame.
There must be no noticeable lag during zooming or panning.

5. Mouse Shortcuts
Because Brightness and Highlights are frequently used, they have dedicated shortcuts.
Brightness
Ctrl + Mouse Wheel → Brightness
Highlights
Alt + Mouse Wheel → Shadows
These commands must not trigger zoom at the same time.
Therefore:
Mouse Wheel → Zoom
Ctrl + Mouse Wheel → Brightness only
Alt + Mouse Wheel → Shadows only
The user can also adjust Brightness by scrolling directly over its slider.
The same interaction may be used for other sliders where appropriate.

6. Image Adjustments
FastMike provides:
Brightness
Highlights
Contrast
Shadows
Adjustments are non-destructive and must not modify the original image.
Each adjustment has an individual reset icon that immediately returns it to its default value.

7. Copy / Paste Adjustments
FastMike must make it easy to apply identical settings to several similar photographs.
Copy
Select a photograph.
The selected thumbnail receives a red border.
Press Ctrl+C.
Only the adjustment settings are copied.
Paste
Select another photograph or the central image.
Press Ctrl+V.
The copied settings are applied to the new photograph.
The actual image is never copied.
There should be no separate Copy Adjustments or Paste Adjustments buttons. Keyboard shortcuts are sufficient.
This is particularly useful when a photographer takes several similar shots under identical lighting.

8. Actions
The Actions area should remain simple and contain only useful controls.
It should not contain:
Copy Adjustments
Paste Adjustments
Rotate Frame 90°
Copy/Paste uses Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V.
Rotate Frame is available under the right-side adjustments.

9. Individual Printing
Each edited photograph should have an individual Print button.
The user can print a particular photograph without stopping the editing workflow.
When printing a single photograph, the user can choose the number of copies.
For example:
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 copies
After sending it to the printer, the user can immediately continue editing.

10. Batch Printing
FastMike supports batch printing and organizes larger jobs into groups of ten.
For example, with 14 photographs:
Print 1–10
Print 11–14
Print All (14)
These three options appear when the main Print command is used.
If there are fewer than ten photographs, such as 7, pressing Print should send them directly to the printer without an unnecessary selection dialog.

11. Printer Support
The initial target printers are:

Printer configuration should be performed before the event so the operator does not need to select a printer repeatedly.
Printing should be handled efficiently in the background wherever possible.

12. Multiple Photographers
A future version will support multiple photographers working at the same event.
Example:

Each photographer has a separate tab containing their photographs.
The operator can configure a printer for each photographer before the event.
Example:
David → X
Kate → Y
When printing from David' tab, the job automatically goes to the assigned X.
When printing from Kate's tab, it automatically goes to the assigned Y printer.
No manual printer selection should be required for each photograph.
Each photographer will have their own tab, and their photos will automatically be sent to the printer assigned to them.
I need full statistics for each photographer. Right click on the tab > Info > How many photos printed, how many photos on the folder, how many photos double/tripled/quadrupled printed

13. Performance
Performance is a critical requirement.
Zoom, pan, slider adjustments, thumbnail selection and switching between photographs should feel immediate.
The application should not reprocess the full-resolution image for every mouse movement or slider change.
A fast preview/rendering system should be used for live editing, while full-resolution processing is reserved for final output and printing.
The goal is smooth operation even with large, high-resolution photographs.

Buttons should have a subtle professional hover effect.
When the mouse passes over a button:
It becomes slightly more prominent.
Its text/icon becomes stronger.
It gains a subtle raised or 3D appearance.
The effect should remain clean and restrained.
The interface should avoid unnecessary controls, dialogs and confirmations.

15. Typical Workflow
Open a folder containing the event photographs.
Original photos appear as thumbnails on the left.
Select a photograph.
Position it inside the fixed 15×20 frame using Drag + Zoom.
Adjust Brightness, Highlights, Contrast and Shadows.
If several photographs are similar, use Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V to copy the settings.
Edited photographs appear in the lower thumbnail area.
Print an individual photo, select the number of copies, or print a complete batch.
Continue immediately with the next photograph.
