Brock GrantFinder – Freelance Developer
I am looking for an experienced developer to review and improve Brock GrantFinder, an existing web/mobile-friendly app developed using Google AI Studio and advise on commercialisation.
The app helps users find and track farming and rural grants across Northern Ireland and the wider UK as well as ROI and EU. A functioning prototype already exists and will be demonstrated to shortlisted applicants. I am however not a tech person.
Current/future functionality
Search and browse grants.
Save relevant grants.
Track grant applications.
Set grant deadlines and reminders.
Scope of work
Key Requirements:
Review the existing app, code and functionality.
Identify technical problems, security risks and missing features.
Fix agreed priority issues and improve reliability.
Improve the user interface where achievable.
Review the grant database, search and filtering functionality.
Improve personalisation, application tracking and reminders where achievable.
Advise on suitable hosting and deploy a test version.
Recommend the next steps needed to trial and commercialise the app.
Provide a clear development roadmap for work outside the initial budget.
Provide basic technical documentation and hand over all updated code.
Advise on app distribution methods for platforms (e.g., iOS/Android).
Ensure secure coding practices for future updates.
Implement processes to handle government dead links in the grantfinder database effectively.
The precise improvements will be agreed after the initial review, with priority given to the changes that provide the greatest benefit within the available budget.
Required experience
Full-stack web-app development.
Experience reviewing or developing AI-assisted prototypes.
Familiarity with Google AI Studio or related Google technologies.
Database, search and filtering functionality.
User accounts and application tracking.
Email or in-app reminder systems.
Responsive and professional UI/UX.
Cloud hosting and deployment.
Experience with grant-finding platforms, automated data collection or subscription applications would be beneficial but is not essential.
Deliverables
The project should produce:
A review of the existing app and its main issues.
An agreed list of priority improvements.
Implementation of the improvements
A functioning test version of the improved app.
A prototype app/web version of grantfinder.
A recommended roadmap and indicative costs for further development.
Handover of the updated source code and basic setup instructions.
Ownership and confidentiality
All project-specific code and materials produced through the engagement must belong to the client upon payment. The developer must disclose any third-party services, licences or ongoing costs used within the application.
The project files, repository, hosting and principal service accounts should remain under the client’s control.
