I’d like my current Excel rota transformed into a clean, automated workbook that practically manages itself. Right now dates are out of order and shifts run together; I need everything sorted chronologically with each shift clearly separated so I can scan the week in seconds.
The file must keep one critical data point—employee names—at its core, because every formula will rely on that. As soon as I enter a start and end time I want the sheet to calculate the shift length and each employee’s running monthly total automatically. If two people accidentally overlap or a shift doubles up, conditional formatting should light it up straight away.
Presentation matters too. Please apply a single, professional font across the workbook; beyond that I’m not fussy about colours or cell sizes, just keep it tidy and printable. The structure should be future-proof, letting me copy the template forward for new weeks without breaking formulas.
Deliverables
• Chronologically sorted rota with shifts in distinct blocks
• Automated calculations for shift length and monthly hours
• Conditional formatting that flags conflicts instantly
• Clean layout using one consistent font style
• Brief instruction tab explaining how to add shifts safely
Feel free to use Excel Tables, named ranges, SUMIFS, dynamic arrays, or any other features that keep the file light and maintainable. I’m ready to review as soon as you have a first pass and will respond quickly to feedback.
