Enhance EUDR-compliant Farm Mapping Mobile App

Title: EUDR Farm Mapping Mobile App – Bug Fixes, Backend Enhancement & Offline Sync

We have developed a farm mapping and field data collection platform designed to support EUDR compliance requirements. The system includes a mobile application used by field officers to register farmers, capture farm information, collect GPS coordinates/polygons, and synchronize collected data with a web-based administration platform.

The platform is already developed and functional, but we are currently experiencing some bugs and require an experienced developer/team to review, stabilize, enhance, and improve the existing solution.

Main Scope of Work

- Review the existing mobile application and backend architecture.
- Identify and resolve existing bugs and stability issues.
- Improve overall application performance and loading speed.
- Optimize the backend, APIs, database queries, and synchronization processes.
- Improve GPS and farm polygon capture functionality.
- Strengthen validation of farm mapping data.
- Improve handling of farmer profiles and farm records.
- Improve reliability when collecting large numbers of farm records.

Offline Farm Mapping – Major Requirement

One of the most important enhancements is offline-first functionality.

Field officers frequently operate in remote farming communities where mobile internet connectivity may be unavailable or unstable.

The application should therefore allow users to:

- Log in and access necessary previously downloaded data when offline.
- Register farmers without internet connectivity.
- Capture farmer and farm information offline.
- Capture GPS coordinates and farm polygons completely offline.
- Save photographs and other required field information locally.
- Queue records securely on the device.
- Continue mapping multiple farms without a network connection.
- Automatically detect when internet connectivity becomes available.
- Synchronize pending records with the central server.
- Prevent duplicate records during synchronization.
- Handle interrupted or partially completed synchronization.
- Clearly show records as Synced, Pending Sync, or Sync Failed.
- Allow users to manually retry failed synchronization.

EUDR-Related Functionality

The platform is intended to support farm-level information required for EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) compliance, including:

- Farmer registration
- Farm registration
- GPS/geolocation capture
- Polygon mapping
- Farm area calculation
- Mapping date and enumerator information
- Farm-level compliance/risk information
- Administrative review of mapped farms
- Map visualization of registered farms

This project focuses primarily on farm mapping, field data collection, system stability, backend improvement, and offline synchronization. It is not a complete supply-chain traceability project.

What We Are Looking For

We prefer a developer/team with experience in:

- Mobile application development
- Offline-first mobile architecture
- GPS/GIS and polygon mapping
- REST APIs
- Database optimization
- Data synchronization
- Conflict resolution and duplicate prevention
- Backend development
- Web administration dashboards
- Agricultural or field data collection applications
- EUDR, GIS, forestry, or geospatial systems would be an advantage

The selected freelancer will be given access to the existing source code and technical environment after engagement.

Important: Because this is an existing institutional project, detailed information regarding the organization, country of implementation, source code, server credentials, and internal system architecture will only be disclosed to the selected freelancer where necessary.

We are looking for someone who can first audit the existing system, identify the major technical problems, recommend improvements, and then implement the agreed fixes and enhancements.
