Editorial Designer for Premium Christian Book

I am looking for an exceptional editorial designer / publication designer / art director to professionally rebuild and produce a premium illustrated book called THE WORLD, part of a Christian boxed experience called YAVO — WHO IS JESUS.

This is a 60-page book consisting of 30 two-page spreads. Each spread visually immerses the reader in the historical world surrounding a biblical passage through cinematic imagery, archaeology, architecture, geography, maps, artifacts, cultural context, and sophisticated editorial storytelling.

This is not a traditional devotional, workbook, novel layout, or simple book-formatting project.

The finished book should feel closer to a combination of a:

museum publication
archaeological field guide
premium historical coffee-table book
luxury editorial publication

The visual direction is already highly developed.

IMPORTANT — PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING

For each spread, I will provide a highly developed flattened visual mockup that acts as the primary blueprint for the design.

The mockup will show:

overall composition
intended hero imagery
supporting images
maps or archaeological elements
text placement
hierarchy
colors
overlays
visual storytelling
general cropping and scale
overall mood and direction

I will also provide the final written copy separately.

However, I will NOT be supplying all of the visual elements from the mockup as separate source files.

There are no pre-existing images for the spreads.

The designer will be responsible for professionally recreating the spread from the mockup, including sourcing, generating, rebuilding, or otherwise creating the individual visual assets required for the final production layout. I do not expect you to cut images out of the flattened mockup.

Think of the mockup as an extremely detailed art direction blueprint. Your job is to take that blueprint and rebuild it properly using high-resolution, commercially usable assets and professional editorial design techniques.

For example, a mockup may contain:

a cinematic reconstruction of a biblical location
an archaeological artifact
a historical map
architectural details
texture or atmospheric elements
small supporting images
labels and editorial callouts

You would recreate or source those elements independently and assemble the final spread as a fully editable professional publication.

Your Role

Your job is to take each supplied mockup and preserve its visual concept and narrative while elevating the execution.

That includes:

recreating the visual composition
sourcing or creating suitable high-resolution imagery
recreating maps, diagrams, artifacts, or supporting graphics when necessary
improving typography
refining spacing and alignment
improving image integration
refining masks, crops, fades, overlays, and layering
maintaining consistent visual quality throughout the book
preparing every spread properly in Adobe InDesign
ensuring all imagery meets professional print-resolution standards
handling bleed, color, linked assets, and prepress correctly

I am not looking for someone to completely reinterpret every spread.

The creative direction will already be established.

I want someone capable of taking a strong mockup and turning it into a world-class, production-ready version of that concept.
