For further development and expansion of our successful business, Raisin is looking for a highly motivated, driven, and experienced Director of Engineering to lead both strategically and operationally our Investment and Pension (IPP) teams (25+ engineers)
This embraces high-quality conceptual and delivery performance of the teams, the health of the IPP engineering organization and system landscape, an efficient and compliant development process, technical and business ownership of the Raisin’s IPP platform, and vendor relationships.
At Raisin, we work in a domain driven organization with a binary-star leadership model. In this model, every Director of Engineering has a Product partner (Head of Product/ Director of Product).
The Director Engineering (DE) leads both strategically and operationally across multiple cross-functional teams.

Your Responsibilities
Delivery quality and speed
The DE is:
accountable for fulfilling the agreed team commitments to their Business-owners in time, scope, and budget
responsible for the performance of their teams
resolving impediments for their teams
nurturing a culture of accountability, pragmatism, and reusability
ensuring a strong delivery oriented collaboration between the different engineering teams
leading both complex technical and important business projects
leading internal software engineering projects and initiatives
Domain ownership
The DE:
drives long-term value creation for their domain
is fostering an environment of passion and fun for the business processes in their tribe
builds resilient domain expertise in their teams
has a deep understanding of the existing system landscape of their teams
collaborates closely with their Business Owner and other stakeholders
ensures Data Vendor management (evaluating, onboarding, and managing data-related vendors)
Tech Strategy
The DDE:
shapes the technical strategy for their teams according to the Raisin's business needs
collaborates closely with other Sr. Engineering Leads in shaping and implementing Raisin's Tech Strategy
actively initiates and contributes to strategic technical and architectural decisions
is always considering the strategic benefits and price of
keeping an existing technical solution
introducing a new alternative (e.g framework, tech stack, tooling, process)
Team and Culture
The DE is:
fully responsible for the health, resilience high performance, and development of their teams
offering direct leadership of engineering leads and sometimes also tech leads as well
encouraging accountability, creativity, risk-taking, and ownership by delegating responsibility
attracting, hiring, and retaining diverse top technical talent for Raisin from around the world
proactively mentoring and coaching individual team members
ensuring a strong delivery-oriented collaboration between the different engineering teams
organizing workshops/hackathons
representing the company in external tech events advancing Raisin’s tech brand recognition
shaping and driving knowledge transfer best practices
nurturing and protecting our culture of trust
initiating, owning and nurturing tech initiatives (like guilds, workshops, regular meetups)
recognizing high performance and rewarding accomplishments within their teams
Process and Compliance
The DE:
drives, improves, and applies existing Raisin standards and policies, Regulation and data privacy
contributes to an optimal toolchain with a high level of automation
develops, establishes, and continually improves documentation standards for the engineering organization
develops guidelines and best practices to ensure a lean software development process across different product teams
is responsible for the KPI-based reporting for their teams
actively monitors, analyses, and drives initiatives to continuously reduce their teams' technical debt
Your Profile
You hold a university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields or have equivalent practical experience
Leadership experience 10y+. You are a senior engineering leader, across projects and teams, with a natural aptitude and passion for growing and developing high-performing teams
You have at least 4y experience in FinTech Domain knowledge of Investment products is a strong advantage.
Strong business mindset.
Strong AWS knowledge, Java, SQL, Kafka/or other messaging solutions
You are pragmatic and can handle the balance between both taking and delegating the lead in challenging situations
You bring both strong strategic and excellent operational leadership skills
You motivate and inspire by outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, including communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
You possess solid data engineering/analytics background and distinct hands-on mentality
You are experienced with OKR and KPI-based target agreements
You are familiar with architecturally-heavy systems, including designing, implementing, and evolving these system constraints
You are fluent in English, knowledge of German or another European language would be a plus
