DevExpress VB.NET Business App

We are looking for a seasoned VB.NET Developer with strong hands-on experience working with the DevExpress control suite to work on and enhance an existing business management desktop application.

The application is already developed, and we are looking for someone who can quickly understand the existing codebase, architecture, database, and DevExpress implementation, and then take ownership of ongoing development, enhancements, maintenance, and new requirements.

The developer will be responsible for understanding the existing application and implementing new features, modifications, improvements, bug fixes, reports, dashboards, and other business requirements as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Understand and work with the existing VB.NET desktop application and its current architecture.

Work extensively with DevExpress WinForms controls and components.

Understand and work with the existing SQL Server or relational database structure.

Modify and enhance existing modules based on business requirements.

Develop new modules and features when required.

Make UI improvements and enhancements using DevExpress controls.

Develop and modify reports, dashboards, charts, and printable documents using DevExpress Reporting.

Work on user roles, permissions, login security, application settings, and other administrative functionality.

Identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and application-related problems.

Make database changes, queries, stored procedures, and other database enhancements as required.

Ensure new changes integrate smoothly with the existing application without affecting existing functionality.

The developer should be flexible and comfortable working with different types of requirements. Requirements may vary depending on business needs and may include new features, changes to existing functionality, UI improvements, database changes, reports, integrations, bug fixes, performance improvements, or other technical requirements.

The ability to understand an existing system, analyze requirements, suggest practical solutions, and implement them efficiently is very important.

The developer should be comfortable working across the application rather than being restricted to a specific module or type of task.

Expected Deliverables:

Enhancements and new features to the existing application.

Bug fixes and performance improvements.

New and modified DevExpress reports and dashboards.

Database updates and required database scripts.

Clean, maintainable, and well-commented VB.NET code.

Updated application builds and installer packages when required.

Documentation for significant changes and new functionality.

Ideal Candidate:

Strong experience in VB.NET / .NET desktop application development.

Strong hands-on experience with DevExpress WinForms controls.

Experience with DevExpress Reporting.

Good knowledge of SQL Server and relational databases.

Experience with Entity Framework and/or ADO.NET.

Ability to understand and work with an existing codebase.

Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and understand business requirements.

Flexible and comfortable working on different types of requirements and changes.

Experience maintaining and enhancing existing production applications is highly preferred.
