Industrial Designer Needed – Modular Hunting Bino Harness System
I’m looking for an experienced industrial/product designer to help develop a new modular binocular harness system for hunting.
The concept combines technical soft goods with custom mechanical attachment hardware. I already have the overall product concept, functionality, and design requirements established. I need someone who can turn the concept into a realistic, manufacturable design and prototype-ready CAD/specification package.
The Product
The system will use interchangeable binocular carriers designed for different optic sizes, including 42 mm and 56 mm binoculars. The user can carry either carrier individually or mechanically connect both carriers together.
A major part of the project is developing a lightweight male/female sliding rail system that allows the carriers and accessory pouches to connect securely to one another.
The harness also needs an adjustable mechanical anchor system, excellent ventilation, low weight, water resistance, quiet operation, and one-handed access.
Key Design Priorities
* Lightweight and low-profile
* Comfortable for all-day hunting
* Excellent airflow between harness and body
* Quiet materials and hardware
* Highly water-resistant construction
* Modular 42 mm and 56 mm optic carriers
* Structural male/female sliding rail connection
* Universal accessory attachment system
* Mechanical load-bearing harness anchors
* Minimal use of bulky plastic components
* No magnets or zippers for the main binocular opening
* One-handed access
* Safety tether system
* Manufacturable using realistic soft-goods and molded-component processes
Designer Experience I’m Looking For
Ideally you have experience with one or more of the following:
* Hunting/outdoor equipment
* Backpacks or technical soft goods
* Tactical equipment
* MOLLE/modular equipment
* Injection-molded hardware
* Buckles, rails, clips or quick-release systems
* Product engineering
* CAD for injection molding
* Prototype development
* Design for manufacturing (DFM)
Experience designing both sewn products and mechanical components would be a major advantage.
Deliverables
I would like:
1. Refined industrial design
2. Dimensioned 42 mm and 56 mm carrier designs
3. Harness/yoke design
4. Custom male/female rail concept
5. Adjustable harness-anchor system
6. Bottom accessory mounting interface
7. Bear-spray and ammunition accessory concepts
8. Material recommendations
9. CAD files for custom molded components
10. Technical drawings/specifications
11. Exploded assembly drawings
12. Prototype-ready files
13. Recommendations for manufacturing and prototyping
I have a detailed design brief that will be provided to the selected designer.
