The ideal candidate has Oracle database administration experience with expertise in backup and recovery, performance monitoring, patching, upgrades, and high availability technologies such as RAC and Data Guard. This customer-facing role requires strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Candidates must hold or obtain an AWS Associate Solutions Architect certification within 12 months of employment

Junior Oracle DBA
Location: Anywhere, USA
Eligibility Requirement: Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder. Non-residents of the U.S. (including H1B and I-140 holders) cannot be considered due to ITAR requirements
Position Overview
Datavail is seeking an Oracle DBA to serve as a primary point of contact for managed service engagements. Working with a team of Datavail DBAs, this individual will optimize production systems and assist in building a Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) offering. This is a long-term, customer-facing role requiring deep technical expertise and strong communication skills
Education & Certification
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent technical experience
Oracle Database certification or coursework preferred
AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, or OCI Foundations certification preferred
Core Skills & Experience
RDBMS Systems
Required:
1-3 years of experience supporting Oracle databases (academic, internship, or professional experience)
Understanding of Oracle Database concepts and architecture
Familiarity with Oracle versions 11g through 23ai
Linux and Windows administration understanding
Preferred:
Exposure to Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
Exposure to Oracle Data Guard and RAC environments
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, OCI, or Azure
Preferred Database Experience
Experience performing database monitoring and routine maintenance activities
Understanding of backup and recovery concepts using RMAN
Experience installing, patching, or upgrading Oracle databases
Familiarity with Oracle security concepts including user management and privileges
Exposure to high availability technologies such as RAC and Data Guard
Understanding of database health checks, capacity monitoring, and performance analysis
SQL & Performance Fundamentals

Learn and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions under senior DBA guidance
Reporting & Analytics
Ability to gather and analyze basic database performance metrics
Assist in maintaining reports related to database availability, capacity, and backup success
Basic understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts is a plus
AI & Productivity Tools
Familiarity with AI-assisted productivity and development tools such as Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar platforms
Ability to leverage AI tools for research, documentation, troubleshooting, scripting assistance, and operational efficiency
Interest in emerging AI technologies and their application to database administration and automation
