I’m replacing an ageing in-house tool that stores all client records and produces our invoices. I can walk you through the current system on a live demo or video recording so you see exactly how it works today and what pain points we need to fix. The core purpose of the rebuild is straightforward: handle invoicing while acting as a searchable, secure database for every transaction and customer profile we keep.
Key capabilities I must have from day one:
• Automated invoice generation so staff never touch a calculator again
• Fully customizable invoice templates that let us swap logos, colours and legal text on demand
• Robust data import/export to move historic records in and to let accountants pull data out in common formats
• User access control with role-based permissions (admin, finance, sales, read-only, etc.)
• Reporting and analytics so I can run quick aging, revenue, and activity reports without Excel gymnastics
I’m open on the tech stack—web, desktop, or hybrid—as long as you can guarantee reliability, easy backups, and future scalability. If you’ve built similar accounting or ERP modules before (think QuickBooks-style invoicing plus a light CRM layer), your experience will be invaluable.
After the demo, we’ll map the database schema together, lock the feature list, and break the work into milestones (e.g., core DB, invoicing engine, UI/UX, reporting). Clean, well-commented code and brief setup documentation are non-negotiable; I need to maintain this long term.
Tell me which framework or language you’d choose, why it suits this job, and share one live example of comparable work if possible. Looking forward to collaborating on a modern, streamlined system that makes billing effortless and our data a breeze to analyse.
