I need detailed HVAC and electrical mechanical drawings for a new commercial construction project. Building is already up, but it was just built.
We are looking for a mechanical engineer to assist with HVAC design for an existing warehouse we are converting into climate-controlled storage for furniture and household goods.
Our objective is to identify the most cost-effective, code-compliant design that satisfies the building’s intended use. Cost efficiency is a primary design objective, and we would appreciate your recommendations on the best way to achieve that.
Our priority is maintaining proper humidity levels (60% RH) and moderate temperatures (80F) to protect stored contents, rather than designing for traditional occupant comfort.
We would prefer to explore multiple smaller split-system units (2 or 3, 5 ton units?) rather than one or two large commercial units, if that can be properly engineered and permitted. Ideally, the system would introduce conditioned air directly with minimal overhead ductwork so we can maximize vertical storage height. Please note that their is not a sub dividing wall in the middle as the plans show and there is already HVAC installed in the offices areas - We are onlying adding HVAC for the warehouse space.
The building may later be divided into two tenant spaces, so we would prefer independent systems for each side if practical.
The attached layout is conceptual only. We welcome your recommendations on unit sizing, placement, air distribution, dehumidification, and any other design considerations needed to achieve the lowest practical installation cost while still providing permit-ready plans suitable for lender approval and contractor bidding.
Requirements:
- South Carolina - Must adhere to local building codes and regulations
- Comprehensive drawings for both HVAC and electrical systems
- Experience with commercial construction projects is a plus
- Provide clear, scalable, and accurate drawings
Ideal Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software
- Strong understanding of HVAC and electrical systems for commercial buildings
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to meet deadlines
