I am developing a full-length thesis that examines how colonial intervention between 1850 and 1950 reshaped women’s lives, with a particular emphasis on educational opportunities, in the princely states of Bilaspur and Kangra. My aim is not just to recount events but to place both regions side-by-side and explore the broader socio-historical context that framed these changes.
Where I need support
• Locating and synthesising primary sources—gazetteers, district reports, missionary accounts, vernacular newspapers, school records, census tables—so that each chapter rests on solid archival evidence.
• Weaving secondary literature into a cohesive narrative that highlights policy shifts, indigenous responses, and the gradual expansion (or restriction) of schooling for women.
• Structuring the comparative analysis: establishing consistent thematic lenses (curriculum, teacher training, enrolment patterns, caste and class intersections), then drawing out convergences and divergences between Bilaspur and Kangra.
• Producing clean, fully cited chapter drafts in Chicago/Turabian style, ready for supervisor review.
Core deliverables
1. Annotated bibliography of at least 40 key sources, divided by region and document type.
2. Detailed outline and argument map showing how each chapter supports the central comparative question.
3. Two region-specific background chapters (Bilaspur, Kangra) integrating all primary data.
4. A synthesis chapter that explicitly compares educational opportunities for women across the two states, 1850-1950.
5. Final polished manuscript (≈25,000–30,000 words) with footnotes, bibliography, and illustrative tables or figures where relevant.
Acceptance criteria
• All factual claims traceable to primary or peer-reviewed sources.
• Comparative insights are evidence-driven, not speculative.
• Writing is clear, academically rigorous, and free of plagiarism (Turnitin-ready).
