Summary
Do you run a CNC shop or have years of machined customer jobs sitting in your archive? We'll pay you to license them.
We're a San Francisco-based, YC-backed startup building real-world training data for physical AI and robotics. We need complete file packages for parts that were actually cut on a machine, not just modeled or simulated. This is a volume engagement: 50 parts minimum, up to 100 per partner, delivered in batches.
Compensation:
$100 USD per 5 approved bundles
What parts we want:
End-use parts made for a real customer job, 3-axis milled, with more than one setup or feature type. Metals and engineering plastics (POM, PEEK, nylon) are both fine. Typical examples include mould and die components (core/cavity inserts, sliders, lifters), housings and enclosures (gearbox, sensor, and pump housings), brackets, mounts and structural blocks, hydraulic manifolds and valve bodies, heat sinks and cold plates, machine-building parts (bearing blocks, end plates, carriages), robotics and drone parts (arm links, actuator housings, flanges), automotive and motorcycle parts (caliper brackets, throttle bodies, triple clamps), medical, lab, semiconductor, and optics components, consumer hardware like bike stems and camera cages, and heavy-equipment parts such as cylinder end caps and pivot blocks.
What we need for each part
- STEP model of the finished part as a single solid
- Original, editable Fusion 360 file (.f3d) with all setups and toolpaths
- Posted G-code for every setup (e.g., top + flip = two programs)
- Technical drawing (PDF) matching the model's dimensions
- Setup sheet: machine make/model and travels, material, stock size, workholding, number of setups, Fusion version and licence type
- A realistic quote/price estimate and a short provenance note: who machined it, where, and roughly when
Requirements:
- Parts must have been physically milled by you or your shop. Work that was only CAM-programmed for someone else's machine doesn't qualify.
- 3-axis milling only. No 3+2, 4-axis, 5-axis, router, or hybrid work.
- All CAM in Fusion 360 under a commercial licence. Files from Educational or Personal Use licences can't be accepted.
- The part must fit the travels of the machine you list, and all files must match each other.
- You must have the right to license every part. [Customer permission requirement.]
Not accepted:
- Fixtures and workholding: soft jaws, fixture plates, jigs, nests, or anything made for your own shop's use
- Wood, MDF, or foam
- Trivial parts: plain plates with holes, single-operation jobs, 2D profile cuts, engraving, nameplates
- More than 5 genuinely different designs per part family
- Parts never cut, test cuts, demo or training pieces
- Downloaded or open-source models
- Defence, export-controlled, or NDA parts
- Multi-body STEP files
How it works:
1. Pilot: Send 5 sample parts. Samples are paid at $20 each once approved and count toward your total. We review within 24 hours.
2. Batches: Deliver the rest in batches of [20]. Each batch is QC'd and paid on approval.
Parts that fail QC are returned for fixes, not paid as-is. Partners who consistently pass QC are offered ongoing contracts.
