I want to bring to life a cloud-based platform that unifies three core functions a modern accommodation business needs: a real-time channel manager, a full property-management system, and an on-site POS, all knitted together through a third-party API.
Scope and objectives
The system must work smoothly for every accommodation style—hotels, vacation rentals, hostels and any hybrid in between—so configurability is crucial. Inventory, rates and reservations have to flow automatically between the PMS and the external API, keeping OTA listings perfectly in sync while preventing over-bookings. At property level, staff should be able to handle the entire guest journey from booking to check-out and settle ancillary charges at the POS without touching a second screen.
Key PMS modules I need built and ready for day-to-day use:
• Reservation management with multi-property support and availability grid
• Guest check-in / check-out workflows, including room moves and folio handling
• Housekeeping dashboard with room status updates and task assignment
• Customisable operational and financial reports (occupancy, revenue, POS sales, etc.)
POS requirements
The POS must post charges directly to a guest folio in real time, support multiple outlets (bar, restaurant, spa) and work on tablet or desktop browsers.
Integration & tech expectations
• Two-way sync through the chosen third-party API (JSON/REST) for rates, restrictions, availability and reservations
• Well-documented internal API so we can extend to mobile apps later
• Responsive, intuitive UI (React, Vue or similar) and a solid, scalable backend (Node, Laravel, Django—open to your recommendation)
• Git-based workflow, clear commit history and deploy scripts for staging and production environments
Acceptance criteria
1. Inventory and rate changes pushed from the PMS reflect on partnered OTAs asap and vice-versa.
2. A full guest booking cycle—including a restaurant charge posted via POS—must complete without manual data entry.
3. System generates accurate same-day revenue, occupancy and housekeeping reports.
