I need a playful, nature-inspired toy made for home 3D printing: a simple cartoonish rock formation that accepts a matching jewel which snaps into place with small neodymium magnets. Think of it as the first piece in a collectible series; once this concept is proven I’ll commission more pairings, so the model architecture must remain editable.
Scope
• Base: rounded, low-poly rock cluster—no intricate veins or micro-cracks, just enough stylised planes to read as “rock” while keeping the slicer happy.
• Insert: a faceted jewel that nests cleanly into a pocket on the rock and sits about half of the depth of the jewel proud when seated. x5 of these pockets in random places around the rock.
Technical Requirements
• Each part printable without supports on an FDM printer (200 × 200 mm bed).
• Wall thickness ≥ 1.2 mm; overhangs ≤ 50°.
• Deliver STEP or IGES files so I can refine the model later in Autodesk Inventor or Shapr3D. An STL of the ready-to-print version is also welcome.
Acceptance
1. Jewel sits tight and reveals no gap larger than 0.3 mm after magnet pull-in.
2. Both parts slice in Cura without red areas at 0.2 mm layer height.
3. I can open and edit the master file in Inventor 2024 without feature loss. I need to be able to edit it after-the-fact as a solid body (cut away internal areas and such for electrical components I would like to incorporate inside).
Once this first pairing feels right, expect follow-up briefs for berry bushes, charging docks and more.
