I'm seeking a lawyer to answer the complaint in a lawsuit where my llc is listed as a co defendant that is filed in Clermont county Ohio court of common pleas.

Key requirements include:
In Clermont County, Ohio, a lawyer responding to a civil complaint must follow the Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure (Civ.R.), supplemented by local court requirements. Whether the case is in the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas (for disputes over $15,000) or the Clermont County Municipal Court (for disputes $15,000 or less), the attorney must meet strict procedural rules.

Technical Pleading Requirements

Ohio Supreme Court Registration: The attorney must be licensed and in good standing with the Supreme Court of Ohio. Out-of-state attorneys must file for pro hac vice admission.
Designation of Trial Attorney: Under local practice, the answering attorney must explicitly designate themselves as the "Trial Attorney" on the pleading, providing their Ohio Supreme Court registration number, email address, telephone, and fax number.

The "Paragraph-by-Paragraph" Rule: Per Civ.R. 8(B), the attorney must admit, deny, or state that they lack knowledge regarding every numbered allegation in the plaintiff's complaint.
Affirmative Defenses: The lawyer must specifically list "affirmative defenses" (e.g., statute of limitations, failure to state a claim, or accord and satisfaction) in the Answer, or risk waiving them permanently.

Format and Submission Rules

Page and Font Formatting: Pleasons must comply with Clermont County Local Rule 5, which mandates standard letter-size paper (8.5 × 11 inches), double-spacing, and clear, legible type font.

Signature Block: The attorney must sign the document digitally or physically, certifying that the Answer is grounded in fact and is not being filed for delay (Civ.R. 11).
Certificate of Service: The attorney must attach a signed declaration at the end of the Answer confirming exactly how and when they served a copy to the opposing counsel (usually via email or mail) (Civ.R. 5).

Timeframe & Delivery Methods

The 28-Day Deadline: The Answer must be filed within 28 days of the date the defendant was officially served with the summons (Civ.R. 12(A)).

Filing Methods: Documents can be submitted in person or by mail to the Clerk of Courts in Batavia, Ohio. Alternatively, filings transmitted by fax are acceptable provided they strictly comply with Clermont County Local Rule
