Freelance Graphic Designer Needed for Board Game
We are looking for a freelance graphic designer with experience in board games, card games, packaging, or printed game materials to help us finalize the visual identity of our board game and improve several existing design elements.
The core game concept, mechanics, and most of the visual structure are already established. We are looking for a designer who can work within the existing visual language while improving consistency, presentation quality, and overall professionalism.
Scope of Work
1. Logo Design
Create a logo that fits the theme, style, and target audience of the game.
The scope includes:
Logo concept development
Necessary revisions
Versions suitable for both print and digital use
Delivery of editable/vector source files
2. Card Back Designs
Design card backs for the different card categories used in the game.
The designs should:
Be consistent with the overall visual identity of the game
Be clearly distinguishable from one another
Maintain a cohesive design system across all card types
Be suitable for professional printing
3. Special Card Designs
Design selected special cards that should visually stand out from the standard cards while still remaining consistent with the overall game identity.
We are looking for stronger visual hierarchy and differentiation without breaking the established design language.
4. Revisions to Existing Card Front Designs
Most of the card front layout and design system is already completed.
However, some existing illustrations, icons, or object designs need to be redesigned or improved.
Examples include:
Energy drink
Trash can
Several similar objects/icons
This does not require redesigning all card fronts. The task is focused on improving selected visual elements while keeping them consistent with the existing card design system.
5. Board Game Box Back / Mockup Design
Create a professional design/mockup for the back of the game box.
The final box-back layout may include:
Short game description
Gameplay or component visuals
Key game information
Player count
Playing time
Relevant icons
Additional supporting information
Final text and necessary content will be provided by us.
What We Are Looking For
Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
Board game design
Card game design
Packaging design
Game UI / icon design
Illustration
Print design
A portfolio containing board game, card game, tabletop game, or packaging projects will be a strong advantage.
We are not only looking for someone who can execute instructions. We also value a designer who can provide professional input regarding:
Visual consistency
Composition
Typography
Color usage
Iconography
Print preparation
Overall visual hierarchy
Deliverables
Depending on the individual asset, final files should include:
Editable Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop files or equivalent source files
Print-ready PDF files
PNG files
SVG files where applicable
CMYK / print-ready versions where required
All editable source files must be included in the final delivery.
When Applying
Please include:
Your relevant portfolio
Examples of board game, card game, packaging, or similar design work
Your estimated timeline
Your total project fee or preferred pricing structure
Portfolios demonstrating actual design thinking, visual problem-solving, and consistent graphic systems will be prioritized.
Existing card designs, the game concept, visual references, and additional project materials will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
Our goal is not to commission several unrelated individual assets, but to create a cohesive and professional visual identity across the logo, cards, icons, and game box.
