I need an experienced millwork estimator who can turn the commercial and residential plan sets I receive from general contractors into winning bids. Every job arrives as a PDF blueprint package, accompanied by material specifications, and often includes Division 6 finished carpentry details. Your task is to read those drawings, create precise quantity take-offs, and price out cabinetry, trim, and molding so I can submit confident numbers that keep us competitive yet profitable.
You’ll be working on both multi-family and single-family projects as well as retail, office, and hospitality interiors, so versatility is essential. I’m interested in someone who is comfortable measuring digitally (PlanSwift, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar), building clear cost breakdowns in Excel, and flagging any scope gaps or value-engineering opportunities you notice. Turnaround time is critical; most packages need to be costed within a few days of receipt so we never miss a bid date.
Deliverables I expect for each project:
• Itemized material and labor take-off with units clearly shown
• Summary cost sheet ready to drop into my bid form
• List of assumptions, exclusions, and RFIs
• Suggested alternates or savings ideas if you see them
Accuracy within a reasonable estimating margin is the main acceptance criterion, and I’ll review your first submission together so we’re on the same page. If you have questions as you work, ask early—communication is key. I’ll supply the drawings and specs immediately after hire and keep the pipeline full; if your numbers help us win, there will be steady work ahead.
