I have a manuscript of poetry presented in both English and French that now needs to be assembled into a single, polished PDF. The aim is a professional presentation suitable for bookshops, literary festivals, and potential print-on-demand services, so typography, margins, headers/footers, and page flow all have to feel like a finished volume rather than a quick export.
You will receive the poems in editable text along with a basic ordering. I’m open to your design recommendations—whether the translations sit side-by-side, follow one another on alternating pages, or another elegant solution you suggest—so long as the final document reads smoothly in both languages and maintains a consistent style.
What I need from you
• A fully formatted, print-ready PDF that meets standard trim sizes (we can confirm dimensions together).
• The working file (InDesign, Affinity Publisher, LaTeX, or comparable) so I can make minor updates later.
• Clear fonts licensed for commercial use and any style sheet you create.
Acceptance criteria
1. Text is free of orphan/widow lines and maintains identical line counts between languages where required.
2. Page numbering, table of contents (if used), and section breaks function correctly when exported.
3. PDF passes a pre-flight check for print (bleeds, embedded fonts, CMYK/RGB settings as appropriate).
If you love shaping words into visually striking pages and have experience with bilingual layouts, I’d like to see a short portfolio sample and hear how you would approach this project.
