About ten data files (mostly CSV or Excel) land on our SFTP server every day. A script must pick each new file up, rename it following a custom naming convention we will define together, and drop it into one dedicated folder in our SharePoint site.
Core workflow
• Connect securely to the SFTP endpoint, detect only the newly-arrived files, and download them.
• Apply the agreed naming rule (e.g., __.ext).
• Upload the renamed files to a single SharePoint document library folder, creating the folder if it is missing.
• Log all actions and errors, and skip or overwrite intelligently so duplicates are never created.
• Run unattended on a daily schedule (Windows Task Scheduler, cron, or Azure Function—whichever suits the language you choose).
Technical notes
PowerShell (PnP.PowerShell / SFTP cmdlets), Python (paramiko + Office365 REST/Graph), or another well-documented approach is fine; what matters is that the script can be edited easily and that any required modules are listed clearly.
Deliverables
1. Fully commented script file(s).
2. Simple configuration file for credentials and paths.
3. README with setup steps, scheduling instructions, and the exact custom naming template.
4. Proof of concept run—log output and screenshot or CLI capture showing the files inside SharePoint.
Acceptance criteria
• All ten daily files appear in the SharePoint folder with the correct new names.
• A single run log verifies success and surfaces any skipped or failed transfers.
• I can update SFTP or SharePoint credentials without touching code.
Once delivered I will test the job on our side; quick tweaks may follow before sign-off.
