# Freelancing Requirement: COBOL Code Dataset

We are looking for freelancers/vendors who can provide **authentic, human-written COBOL codebases** for AI training, evaluation, and research purposes.

### Data Requirements

* **Programming Language:** COBOL
* **Code Type:** Real-world, human-written COBOL source code
* **Preferred:** Complete projects/codebases rather than isolated code snippets
* Code should represent genuine software development work, preferably from enterprise, banking, finance, insurance, government, or other legacy systems.
* Both **modern and legacy COBOL** codebases are acceptable.
* Code may include supporting files and project-level documentation where available.

### Preferred File Types / Components

Where available, we are interested in:

* `.cob` / `.cbl` COBOL source files
* Copybooks (`.cpy`)
* JCL files
* BMS / CICS-related files
* DB2 / SQL-related code
* Job/control files
* Build/configuration files
* Project documentation and READMEs
* Test cases or test scripts, if available

### Dataset Quality

* 100% authentic and human-created
* No AI-generated or synthetic code
* Code should be legally available for commercial licensing
* No copyright infringement or unauthorized scraping
* Personal/confidential information must be removed or anonymized
* Duplicate or substantially repeated code should be avoided

### Licensing & Rights

The provider must have the legal authority to license the data to us.

The dataset should be available for **commercial AI/ML training, evaluation, research, and model development**, including the right to process, modify, and create derived datasets where agreed under the final license.

### Quantity

We are open to different dataset sizes. Please share:

* Total number of COBOL files
* Approximate total LOC
* Number of projects/codebases
* Approximate dataset size (GB)
* Supporting files available
* Source/origin of the data
