I’m building a full-featured e-commerce platform and need a developer who is comfortable working end-to-end with ASP.NET Core Web API, C#, and SQL Server.
The application’s core purpose is to power online sales, so reliability, performance, and clean architecture are crucial.
Scope of work
• Back-end: Set up a modular ASP.NET Core Web API that delivers all business logic. Entity Framework Core is preferred for data access, but feel free to suggest another ORM if it improves performance.
• Database: Design and implement the SQL Server schema, including indexing strategies that keep catalog and user queries fast.
• Key features to implement
– Product catalog with robust search (by name, category, tags, SKU).
– Secure user authentication and profile management (registration, login, password reset, roles).
– Payment gateway integration; Stripe or PayPal are fine, but the code should be written so another provider can be swapped in with minimal effort.
• Admin endpoints: basic CRUD for products, categories, and orders.
• Documentation: concise API docs (Swagger/OpenAPI) and a short read-me outlining setup, environment variables, and deployment steps.
• Unit/integration tests that cover at least the critical purchase flow.
Acceptance criteria
1. All listed features function correctly through RESTful endpoints and return proper status codes.
2. Sensitive data is handled with industry-standard security practices (hashed passwords, HTTPS-only, no secrets committed).
3. Source code builds and runs locally using the commands provided in the read-me.
4. Tests pass on a clean checkout.
If you have production-level experience with ASP.NET Core, C#, and SQL Server and can deliver clean, maintainable code, I’d love to see examples of similar work and discuss a sensible milestone schedule.
