Android Social Media App Development

I’m ready to turn my concept for a dedicated social-media Android app into a fully functioning product. The project is strictly mobile app development for the Android platform—no iOS component is planned at this stage—so your experience with Kotlin or Java, Android Studio, Firebase (or an equivalent real-time back end), and clean Material Design guidelines will be critical.
Core idea
The app should allow users to create profiles, share posts (text, images, short video), follow others, and receive real-time notifications. Think lightweight, fast, and intuitive rather than a bloated “all-in-one” network. A smooth onboarding flow, secure authentication, and an easily scrollable home feed are my immediate priorities; messaging and advanced discovery features can be mapped out as phase-two items once the essentials are stable.
Scope of this engagement
• Build the complete Android front end, fully responsive across common device sizes.
• Connect to a cloud back end (Firebase, Supabase, or a stack you propose) for user auth, storage, and push notifications.
• Implement basic moderation hooks so reported content can be flagged in the database for review.
• Package an APK plus documented source code so I can run and test locally.
• Provide a concise hand-off guide outlining environment setup, build steps, and how to deploy future updates.
Acceptance criteria
1. New users can sign up with email, Google, or phone number verification.
2. Authenticated users can create, edit, and delete posts containing text, one image, or one 30-second video.
3. The feed loads the latest posts chronologically with pull-to-refresh.
4. Users can follow/unfollow accounts, with the feed reflecting this instantly.
5. Push notifications trigger when a followed account creates a new post.
6. Code passes linting and builds without errors in the latest stable Android Studio.
Timeline & collaboration
I’d like to see an interactive prototype inside three weeks, with the full MVP delivered within eight weeks. Regular progress check-ins via GitHub or GitLab commits and a short weekly call will keep us aligned.
If you’ve shipped social platforms before or have strong portfolio pieces showing similar flows, I’d love to see them. Let’s create something users will enjoy scrolling every day.
