I would like a fully-functional Android chatting application that lets users talk one-on-one and in groups with a smooth, familiar messenger experience. A straightforward login is all I need—no social integrations for now—so a classic email-and-password flow (or a similarly simple credential screen) will be enough.
Core experience
• Real-time messaging for private and group rooms
• Read receipts, typing indicators, and push notifications
• Clean, modern UI that follows current Android design guidelines
• Secure user authentication and message storage (Firebase, Supabase, or another reliable backend is fine as long as it scales)
Deliverables
1. Production-ready Android project (Kotlin or Java) with well-structured source code
2. Backend configuration files and documentation for reproducing the database/auth setup
3. Brief README or video walkthrough showing how to build, run, and test the app on a fresh machine
Acceptance criteria
– Users can register, log in, start a private chat, create a group, and exchange messages without crashes or significant lag.
– All messages sent from one device appear on another in under two seconds on a typical broadband connection.
– The codebase passes a quick review for readability and includes inline comments where logic isn’t obvious.
If this aligns with your expertise, I’m ready to review your approach and timeline.
