I’m looking to turn my love of film into a simple Android application that lets users build and manage a personal movie watchlist. For this first release I only care about watchlist creation and maintenance; features like reviews or ticket booking can remain placeholders for a later phase, so structure the code with future add-ons in mind.

Here’s what I need:

• A clean Material-styled interface where users can search movies, view basic details (poster, synopsis, release year) and tap to add or remove items from their watchlist.
• Data pulled in real time from a public source such as TMDB or OMDB; feel free to suggest the best fit.
• Persistent storage of the watchlist between sessions—Room/SQLite is fine, or a lightweight cloud option like Firebase if that speeds things up.
• Source code written in Kotlin or Java inside an Android Studio project, complete with build/gradle files and clear setup instructions so I can open and extend the project myself.
• An installable APK for quick testing on physical devices.

I’m happy to hear your thoughts on UI refinements, architecture patterns (MVVM, clean architecture, etc.) and any libraries you’d like to incorporate to keep the app fast and maintainable. Let me know your estimated timeline, previous work that shows similar functionality, and anything you need from me to get started.
