I’m building a dedicated Android application for the student side of my Learning Management System. The scope is intentionally focused on a single user role—Student—so the interface and codebase can stay lean while still covering every core learning need.
The app must let students:
• Access all courses published from the existing web back-end (secure login, responsive course catalogue, video + PDF streaming)
• Track their progress in real time, with a dashboard that syncs completion status, quiz scores and time-on-task to the server
• Communicate inside each course through chat or forum threads, sending text and simple attachments
Clean Kotlin code, Android Jetpack best practices, and a modular architecture that keeps networking, data storage and UI layers separated are essential. I already have REST endpoints documented in Swagger; your job is to connect to them, cache intelligently for offline viewing, and push updates once the device is back online.
Deliverables
• Full Android Studio project with source, properly commented
• Signed release-ready APK + debug build for testing
• Brief setup document explaining build variants and API keys
• One round of review and fixes after I test on physical devices
Once these are met and the app passes basic accessibility and performance checks (cold start under 3 s on mid-range hardware), I’ll mark the milestone complete and plan the next phase—possibly teacher and admin modules.
