I’m developing a history picture-book that introduces the American Revolution to children between five and seven. The manuscript must balance historical accuracy with the language and pacing young emerging readers can handle, keeping sentences short, vocabulary simple, and explanations concrete and sequential.

Your narrative should cover the key moments—why the colonies rebelled, famous figures such as Washington and Revere, and the outcome—without overwhelming dates or politics. Think of it as an engaging read-aloud for parents or teachers that still works for early independent reading. The tone is firmly educational and informative, so humour or heavy moralising isn’t required; clarity and gentle storytelling are.

Length & structure
• Target word count: roughly 1,500–2,000 words split into 8–10 mini-chapters or spreads.
• Each section should end with a short recap or “Did you know?” fact box to reinforce learning.
• Include a simple one-page glossary of big words (e.g., “colony”, “independence”) and three comprehension questions that adults can ask after reading.

What I need from you
1. A complete, proofread manuscript in Word or Google Docs.
2. Margin notes suggesting possible illustration scenes for each spread (no artwork needed, just guidance).
3. One round of revisions after my feedback to ensure accuracy and age suitability.

Strong research skills, familiarity with early-reader Flesch-Kincaid levels, and previous children’s nonfiction experience will stand out. If you can weave clear storytelling with solid historical facts, let’s bring the Revolution to life for the youngest historians.
