Project Brief: Multi‑Role Service Platform

Overview

We are building a web-based platform that connects customers with service partners to manage multi‑step processes (“cases”). Customers select a service package, complete onboarding, submit documents, follow milestones, and make milestone‑based payments. Partners manage assigned cases, review documents, set tasks, and communicate via chat. An admin oversees everything—users, cases, payments, and analytics—with full financial control.

The frontend is already built (≈90% complete) as a single‑page application (HTML/CSS/JS). We now need a full backend (API, database, file storage, real‑time messaging), a partner portal, an admin panel, and integration with external services (e‑signature, payment gateway). Minor frontend tweaks are also required to connect the UI to the live backend.

What’s Already Done (Frontend)

Program/service catalog browsing
Registration & login (UI + local storage simulation)
Multi‑step onboarding questionnaire
Case creation and service selection
Customer dashboard with:

Milestone progress bar (dynamic)
Document upload interface
Task checklist
Built‑in chat (UI only)
Wallet and payment form (UI only)
Event log & notifications
Responsive design (mobile‑friendly)
You will not build the customer frontend from scratch. Instead, you will:

Replace mock/local‑storage data with real API calls
Integrate actual e‑signature (e.g., DocuSign) and payment gateway (Stripe)
Fix any remaining layout bugs

What Needs to Be Built (Core Scope)

1. Backend API & Database

Secure RESTful (or GraphQL) API with role‑based access control (customer, partner, admin)
Database: PostgreSQL recommended (Supabase or self‑hosted)
Authentication: email/password + JWT, optional 2FA for partners
File storage: AWS S3, Cloudinary, or Supabase Storage
Real‑time messaging: WebSockets (Socket.io) or Supabase Realtime
Document versioning and audit trails
Key Entities (generic schema):

Users (customers, partners, admins)
Cases (linked to a user, a package, and a partner)
Packages / Programs (pre‑defined milestones, costs, requirements)
Milestones (steps within a case with status, payment trigger)
Documents (uploaded by customer or partner, with status)
Tasks (assigned to customer by partner, with deadline)
Messages (chat per case)
Payments (transactions, refunds, payouts)
Notifications (email + in‑app)
Audit logs (all actions)

2. Partner Portal (Web Interface)
Dashboard showing assigned cases with priority
Case detail view: documents, tasks, milestones, chat
Document review: accept, reject, or request changes
Upload completed documents back to the system
Create tasks for customers (with description and deadline)
Chat with customers (real‑time)
Track earnings and milestone progress
3. Admin Panel (Web Interface)

Full oversight: list all users, cases, partners
User management: add/remove/suspend partners and customers
Case assignment: manually assign a partner to a case
Financial dashboard:

Process customer milestone payments (via Stripe Connect)
Manage partner payouts and commissions
Handle refunds
Transaction history
Analytics: master dashboard with KPIs (cases completed, revenue, partner performance, etc.)
Configuration: manage packages, milestones, pricing rules

4. Integrations
DocuSign (or HelloSign) for customer engagement agreements
Payment gateway – Stripe Connect
Email notifications – SendGrid, Mailgun, or SMTP
File storage – cloud‑based with secure access
5. Deployment & DevOps

Set up staging and production environments
CI/CD pipeline (GitHub Actions or similar)
Automated backups and monitoring
Ensure scalability and security (HTTPS, rate limiting, input validation)

Suggested Tech Stack (Flexible)

We are open to your preferred stack, but we recommend:
Layer Technology
Backend Node.js + Express / Python + FastAPI / Ruby on Rails
Database PostgreSQL (with PostGIS if needed)
Real‑time Socket.io or Supabase Realtime
File storage AWS S3 / Cloudinary / Supabase Storage
Authentication JWT with refresh tokens
Frontend (customer) Already built – Vanilla JS / HTML / CSS
Partner/Admin Frontend React, Vue, or plain JS – we can discuss
Payments Stripe Connect
Email SendGrid / Mailgun

User Roles & Workflow (Simplified)

Customer Browses packages → selects one → registers
Onboarding checklist (upload documents, sign agreement)
Dashboard shows their case, milestones, next steps
Can chat with assigned partner, view tasks, make payments
Upon completion, downloads all final documents

Partner Logs in to a dedicated portal
Sees assigned cases with deadlines and priority
Reviews submitted documents and acts on them (accept/reject/request changes)
Creates tasks for customer (e.g., “Provide proof of address”)
Communicates via chat
Marks milestones as complete, triggering customer payments
Views earnings and performance stats
Admin

Full access to all cases and users
Assigns partners to cases (or automated assignment)
Controls financial flows: approve payouts, issue refunds
Manages platform settings (packages, milestones, commissions)
Accesses master analytics dashboard (revenue, case completion rates, etc.)
