What you'll doAs we continue to grow, we are looking for an Advanced/Senior Software Engineer (Backend) at Snke to help shape the next generation of our platform and the way we integrate with clinical systems.
You would design, build, and operate the services behind our mobile product, the APIs our clients consume, the data flows that connect us to hospital systems, and the platform work that keeps all of it dependable in production. Your work will directly support healthcare professionals in their daily practice and contribute to products used during patient care.
There is substantial architectural work ahead. We are evolving how our product integrates with hospital systems, and this role contributes directly to shaping that, not just implementing it. You will work across client-facing APIs, healthcare integrations, imaging workflows, and both cloud and on-premise deployments, within a team where your engineering judgement has a genuine impact.
Design, build, and operate production backend services
Design APIs consumed by mobile and web clients
Work with clinical data and healthcare interoperability standards
Own service quality end to end: automated testing, CI/CD, observability, diagnosability in production
Produce the technical documentation and evidence required in a regulated development process
Contribute to architecture decisions across on-premise and cloud deployment models
What we're looking forSeveral years of professional experience building and operating backend systems in production backend services
Strong understanding of API design, data modelling, and distributed system architecture
Hands-on experience with containers, relational databases, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency in at least one modern backend language and an openness to work across different technologies. We currently work with Python, Go, .NET, and Rust
An AI-native mindset. You actively leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and software quality, while understanding their strengths and limitations
A structured and quality-focused way of working, particularly in regulated environments
Professional English communication skills; German is a strong advantage
Nice-to-HaveExperience with healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, or interface engines like Mirth or Rhapsody
Knowledge of DICOM and medical imaging workflows
Experience developing regulated medical software or working in other safety-critical industries
Experience deploying software in customer-managed or on-premise infrastructures
AWS experience
Interest in taking on greater technical ownership as the team grows
Why SnkeA supportive, international team connected by shared values and a culture of trust
Meaningful responsibilities with a lasting impact on global healthtech, improving medical decisions and patient outcomes
30 vacation days, plus December 24th and December 31st
Flexible working hours and a hybrid work model within Germany
Bike leasing via our partner “BikeLeasing”
Parking garage and secure underground bike storage
Subsidized company restaurant and in-house café
Urban Sports Club membership with employer contribution
