Project overview
We are looking for a bilingual trademark paralegal to support our U.S. trademark practice. Recent changes in the law has made it necessary for all foreign companies to hire a U.S. attorney to file trademark applications and associated documents. We are looking for someone located in China or Hong Kong who can respond to prospective clients by email and WeChat for our U.S based law firm. You will need to be a native Mandarin speaker. This is a long term position with significant opportunity for growth. Our U.S. paralegal has been with our firm for almost 8 years as we are fun and easy to work with. Since we work on opposite sides of the world, you will need to be able to work very independently. Your primary duties will consist of: •providing front line customer support and pricing information to prospective clients contacting us from China and Hong Kong. •Assisting with identifying prospective partners and clients to contact online. •Reviewing and preparing evidence of use to support trade mark proceedings. •Preparing draft trademark forms according to client and attorney specifications. Qualifications: • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Mandarin • Mature, strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently, helpful and supportive with good team skills • Possess a good sense of judgement, able to prioritize tasks, efficient and able to work under pressure and independently. • Professional, meticulous and conscientious • Strong PC skills, well-versed in Chinese word processing, and accessing internet content outside of mainland China •Ability to become competent in the online tools we use (Zendesk Support, Slack, reply.io ) • Possession of a legal background although not mandatory, will be advantageous We plan on expanding aggressively over the next several years in China and there is significant room for advancement if you are open to traveling to trade shows and other venues to meet with companies that export their products to the U.S.
