Project overview
I'm looking for an engineer to help create a device that can measure and record the amount of smoke that is dragged through a vape pen. My main goal is to better understand how much nicotine a person inhales from a vape pen. There are 2 options for this: 1) We design a device that can be attached to existing vape pens 2) We design our own vape pen that has this functionality We would likely need to create a CAD to create a prototype. The main functionality would need to include: 1) A mechanism for attachment (this does not apply if we create the vape pen ourselves) 2) A general structure/design of the device 3) A mechanism for measurement (this would potentially be a 'mouthpiece' that measures the amount of smoke going through it) 4) A mechanism for storing the data 5) A mechanism for transmitting the data to the phone application The device would need to provide a measurement of the amount of smoke that exited the pen. It would also need to cumulatively store this data. If measuring the amount of smoke is too difficult, I'm open to ideas on how to measure the amount of nicotine. For example, the amount of air that passes through, the amount of time the coil is lit, etc. Additional people will be hired onto the project, so if you are able to accomplish a portion of the project, that is perfectly acceptable. Please indicate what you can contribute. Ultimately, the designed product would need to be produced at an affordable rate for use in larger research projects. Please consider how this project could be ultimately created in a cost efficient manner. Look forward to speaking with you more. Cheers, David McLaughlin
