Project overview
The Production / Editorial Assistant supports our Curriculum Team in the production and creation of online career and elective courses for high school and middle school students. Note: We pay a fixed price for an initial audition to assess fit. Upon successful completion of the audition we will negotiate an hourly rate for ongoing work in the range of $18-$20 USD/HR. Key elements of the work include:- Image Research Research and assist in the creation of art programs to support online courses Read course content for locations in narrative where images enhance learning Search image sites to source images per writer’s directions Write alt text & captions to meet accessibility guidelines Editorial Liaise with writers, developmental editors, and Technology team Verify vocabulary terms and definitions Apply style sheets Fact checking and proof reading content for errors Create Bibliographies Read courses and research potential sources used for research Create bibliography using APA or MLA styles, depending on subject Skills Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Strong time management skills with ability to juggle projects and to meet deadlines Attention to detail Solid research skills and keen to learn new subjects and topics Creativity with locating images which embellish learning experience (i.e., avoiding literal interpretation of narrative and determining what images add value and can help students learn difficult concepts) Sensitive and attuned to needs of diverse audience, including audience with different abilities (e.g., different functioning of vision and cognitive abilities) Proficient with MS Office suite and email Professional approach and attitude with team of freelance writers and editors plus internal employees, and outside vendors Education Background and Experience Preference given to candidates with or pursuing an Undergraduate degree Previous production assistant or research experience a plus
