I’m looking for a long-term partner who can assist with the continuous development of a new secure tablet firmware running on our custom NXP i.MX8 board. The work centres on two ongoing needs:

• Keeping the Yocto Linux system up to date, including maintaining layers, upgrading the kernel and bootloader, and writing or adapting device drivers for new peripherals as the hardware team finalises the schematic.
• Strengthening security features such as secure boot, full-disk encryption, and fine-grained user access control so the tablet ships with a hardened, verifiable software stack.

Because the hardware platform is a custom i.MX8 design, you’ll often need to read the schematics and coordinate with our board designer to ensure every interface—touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB-C, camera—has the right driver support and kernel configuration.

Day-to-day you’ll be working in Yocto, U-Boot, the mainline and NXP vendor kernels, OP-TEE, and GitLab CI. I release milestones as weekly builds: each Friday I expect a reproducible image, a manifest of layer revisions, and a short changelog. Acceptance is simple—if the image boots on my lab unit, passes our secure-boot verification script, and all updated drivers probe cleanly, we move on to the next sprint.

If you have deep Yocto experience, understand i.MX8 internals, and enjoy tightening every screw in the secure-boot chain, I’d love to start our collaboration right away.
