# Hiring Historical Military Fiction Writer – WWII Germany × Game of Thrones Crossover (50,000 Words)
**Project Type:** Historical Fiction / Military Fantasy / Alternate History / Fanfiction
**Estimated Length:** 50,000 words
**Work Required:** Story Development, Editing, Worldbuilding, Story Bible Creation, and Chapter Writing
## Project Overview
I'm looking for an experienced historical and military fiction writer to collaborate with me on developing a fast-paced, detailed, and ambitious personal project *Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire* crossover featuring a German military force transported from 1945 into Westeros.
This is not simply a ghostwriting assignment. I need someone who can actively contribute ideas, improve existing material, develop characters, help structure the narrative, and work alongside me to turn the premise into a compelling 50,000-word story.
## Story Premise
On April 22, 1945, Nazi Germany stands on the brink of total defeat. Berlin is surrounded by advancing Soviet forces, and the German military is collapsing under the weight of the Red Army's offensive.
Felix Steiner commands a severely depleted formation tasked with defending the capital's northern approaches. Despite the desperate situation, Hitler orders Steiner to launch an impossible counterattack against the Soviet forces closing in on Berlin.
However, before Steiner can carry out the order, he and approximately 10,000–15,000 soldiers under his command mysteriously disappear, along with their remaining military equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
Instead of facing destruction outside Berlin, Steiner and his men find themselves transported to the Riverlands of Westeros, ten years before Aegon's Conquest.
**1. Editing and Improving Chapter 1**
I already have a draft of Chapter 1, which establishes the disappearance of Steiner's forces and their arrival in Westeros.
The writer will review and edit this chapter, improving its prose, dialogue, historical accuracy, pacing, characterization, and overall narrative quality while preserving the original premise and important events.
**2. Writing Chapter 2**
Following the revision of Chapter 1, the writer will develop and write Chapter 2, establishing the direction of the story, introducing meaningful developments, and maintaining continuity with the opening chapter.
**3. Collaborative Story Development**
I want the writer to actively participate in developing the story rather than simply following a rigid outline.
This includes brainstorming military campaigns, political developments, character relationships, diplomatic encounters, territorial expansion, and the circumstances that eventually lead Steiner toward ruling Westeros.
The story should develop naturally through the decisions, motivations, mistakes, and ambitions of its characters, rather than forcing events toward predetermined outcomes.
**4. Creating a Comprehensive Story Bible**
I need help developing a story bible that will serve as a reference throughout the 50,000-word project.
The bible should cover:
- Main and supporting characters, personalities, motivations, relationships, and character development.
- German military organization, troop numbers, ranks, equipment, weapons, vehicles, and available resources.
- Military logistics, including ammunition, fuel, food, maintenance, spare parts, and long-term sustainability.
- Westerosi geography, kingdoms, noble houses, political relationships, and historical circumstances before Aegon's Conquest.
- Important locations, settlements, military bases, and controlled territories.
- Political alliances, rivalries, military campaigns, and major conflicts.
- The story's chronology, continuity, important events, and long-term narrative direction.
The story bible should be detailed enough to maintain consistency between chapters while allowing the plot to develop organically.
## Writing Style and Narrative Expectations
The novel should feature fast-paced, engaging storytelling with substantial detail, cinematic military engagements, political intrigue, and meaningful character development.
Large-scale battles are an important part of the story. I want convincing descriptions of German infantry, artillery, machine guns, armored vehicles, defensive positions, troop movements, and the reactions of medieval armies encountering twentieth-century warfare.
However, technology should not eliminate every challenge. The German forces must contend with limited supplies, damaged equipment, declining ammunition reserves, unfamiliar terrain, political opposition, and the absence of modern industrial infrastructure.
The narrative should also include multiple character perspectives, meaningful diplomatic exchanges, military councils, political negotiations, and events unfolding across different locations.
I prefer cohesive, substantial paragraphs, natural and distinctive dialogue, clear dates and location headings, and a strong balance between action, exposition, and character interactions.
I will provide a separate historical crossover excerpt as a reference for my preferred storytelling structure, detail, and pacing.
## Preferred Qualifications
I'm especially interested in writers who have experience with historical military fiction, alternate history, military strategy, and political fantasy.
Knowledge of German military organization during the final months of WWII and familiarity with *A Song of Ice and Fire*, particularly Westeros before Aegon's Conquest, would be significant advantages.
The writer must be comfortable with collaborative planning, constructive feedback, revisions, and maintaining continuity across a long-form project.
## Initial Assignment and Long-Term Goal
The initial assignment will involve reviewing and editing Chapter 1, writing Chapter 2, and collaborating on the first version of the story bible.
The overall goal is to develop a complete story of approximately **50,000 words**.
Depending on the quality of the initial work, I would like to establish a longer-term working relationship with the selected writer.
**When applying, please provide relevant writing samples, describe your experience with historical or military fiction, and explain how you would approach developing this particular crossover.**
I'm particularly interested in writers who can bring their own thoughtful suggestions to the project while respecting my creative direction.
