I have an idea for a charming picture book aimed at toddlers aged 1-3 that celebrates friendship and sharing in a warm, engaging way. I’m looking for someone who can turn this concept into a complete, age-appropriate manuscript and, if you also illustrate, pair it with colorful and vibrant artwork that will captivate little readers.
Here’s what I have in mind:
• A simple, rhythmic story of roughly 250–400 words, perfect for a standard 14–16 spread board-book layout.
• Clear, repetitive language and gentle humour so toddlers can follow along and join in.
• A positive takeaway about helping others and taking turns, conveyed through relatable characters—a pair of animal pals or any charming figures you feel inspired to create.
• Bright, high-contrast illustrations (think bold shapes and lively colors) that pop on the page and complement the text.
Deliverables
1. Draft storyboard outlining text placement and illustration ideas.
2. Final polished manuscript in Word or Google Docs.
3. If you illustrate, layered print-ready files (PSD or AI preferred) in CMYK plus a PDF mock-up of the entire book.
Acceptance criteria
• Language and pacing hold the attention of a 1- to 3-year-old when read aloud.
• Theme of friendship/sharing is clear, upbeat, and never preachy.
• Illustrations (if provided) are vibrant, toddler-safe in style, and match the text precisely.
If illustration isn’t your specialty, that’s fine—feel free to bid for writing only. Let me know your experience with toddler audiences, a brief outline of your story idea, and any portfolio samples that showcase your tone or art style. I’m excited to bring this little book to life together.
