# Experienced WordPress Developer Needed to Complete Website Update
I'm looking for an experienced WordPress developer to complete the updating and development of my existing website.
The website provides information and resources about dyslexia, assistive technology, and accommodations for students with learning disabilities.
A development/staging version of the website already exists. I'm looking for someone who can evaluate the work completed so far, resolve outstanding technical issues, and prepare the updated website for launch.
### Current Technical Issues
The website currently uses:
- **WordPress**, hosted by CloudAccess.net
- **Skyetheme 2.0**, developed by Edge Themes (Qode Interactive)
- **WPBakery Page Builder**, currently version 8.4.1
- Other plugins, including Elementor
Two important concerns need attention:
1. **WPBakery requires a security update**, but attempts to update it have failed with the error: `Malformed URL: "key" is required`.
2. **Skyetheme may no longer be supported.** We need to determine whether it can be safely maintained or should be replaced with a modern, supported WordPress theme.
### Scope of Work
I'm looking for a developer who can:
- Review the existing production and staging websites.
- Evaluate the current theme, plugins, and compatibility issues.
- Recommend whether to retain Skyetheme or migrate to a supported theme.
- Resolve the WPBakery update problem or recommend an appropriate replacement.
- Complete any remaining website development and design work.
- Preserve existing content, functionality, and important design elements.
- Ensure the website is secure, responsive, accessible, and easy to maintain.
- Test the completed staging site before deploying changes to the live website.
- Implement an automatic blog listing system where new posts are displayed on a dedicated page with titles, featured images, publication dates, excerpts, and links to full posts. This feature should be manageable using standard WordPress tools.
- Preserve existing search rankings where possible and ensure that search engines can properly index pages and blog posts (SEO).
- Provide documentation explaining how to publish blog posts, update pages, perform routine maintenance, and emphasize accessibility in editing tools for reading by listening and writing by speaking workflows.
### Qualifications
The ideal developer will have:
- Strong experience with WordPress development, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience migrating websites between WordPress themes and page builders.
- Familiarity with WPBakery and Elementor.
- Experience working with staging environments and website migrations.
- An understanding of website accessibility for both visitors and editors.
- Good communication skills with availability for interviews prior to hiring to ensure effective collaboration during ongoing work.
### Project Arrangement
This is a **freelance, project-based opportunity** within a budget range of $250–$750 USD.
I'd like to begin with an assessment of the existing website and staging environment followed by a proposal outlining recommended work, estimated cost within this range ($250 preferred), and timeline (completion within 1–2 weeks).
