Project Details

Task
- We need to update older WordPress sites to version 8.3.36.
- We have several clients requesting updates (5–10 websites).
- The websites are to be updated only; no changes to the front end.
- Quality assurance / completion of work.

Milestones
- 1. Startup (for the selected website).
- 2. Update to version 8.3.36.
- 3. Quality control / completion of work.
Production time: 1 week.

General Information
General WordPress update to version 8.3.36.
Critical vulnerabilities have been discovered in PHP.
We have clients currently running older versions of WordPress (based on PHP 8.1).

Critical Issues
- RCE via OOM (Out-of-Memory) corruption, CVE-2026-109618 (GHSA-w8hw-w9fx-j79w): Handling an out-of-memory condition can interrupt PHP while internal request data is only partially initialized. Subsequent request cleanup may then treat this invalid data as valid.

- RCE via stale global state, CVE-2026-109619 (GHSA-6wmf-4rv5-p3rp): Internal state associated with a request may persist after the underlying memory has been freed. A subsequent request handled by the same worker process might access this stale state before normal initialization resets it.

Backup
- Website backup must be created before any work begins.

Fixed Price
- As we have multiple websites requiring updates, we would like a fixed price per update, regardless of the specific previous WordPress/PHP version.
- None of the websites are running a version older than WordPress 8.1.
