Word VBA Lease Calculation Automation

I have already built the core lease-agreement template in Microsoft Word and now need it to work like a smart form. The priority area is the Rent Calculation section: when I type or change the base rent amount and select the number of months, the document must instantly produce the monthly rent total without any manual math in 3 different payment options. Also the rent is based on the amount of people so that will affect the totals for rent and the deposit. Finally I would like fill ins for the type of unit and amount of people. All other areas can stay as they are; I simply want these sections to run flawlessly every time the template is reused.
To achieve that I expect you to use whichever combination of Word Content Controls, legacy form fields, XML mapping, VBA, and dynamic fields you judge best. I am comfortable with behind-the-scenes macros, so feel free to wire calculations directly into VBA if that delivers the most reliable result. What matters is that:
• Base Rent Amount + Number of Months + Number of people → Monthly Rent Total and deposit updates automatically, even after the file has been saved, reopened, or copied. Areas to selection type or size of unit and number of people, furnished or unfurnished.
• No residual prompts, security warnings, or broken references appear when the document is opened on a standard Office 365 desktop install.
• The template remains easy for non-technical staff to complete, with tab order and field locking configured so they can’t accidentally overwrite formulas.
Hand-over package: the updated .docm template, brief inline comments or a separate one-page note explaining the code, and a quick screen-share walk-through for final acceptance testing.
If you have a portfolio example of rent or fee calculations you’ve wired into Word before, that will fast-track our kickoff.
