Job TitleWindows Server Admin – Setup 4-User Remote Desktop (RDS) VPS for ASI SmartBooks (With Future Support)Project DescriptionWe are a small business looking for an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to set up a new Windows-based Virtual Private Server (VPS). This server will host our industry-specific accounting and ERP software, ASI SmartBooks, for 4 concurrent users.We want to establish a clean, low-overhead cloud environment and are looking to build a long-term, on-demand relationship with a reliable IT freelancer for future maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.Scope of Work (Initial Phase)Server Configuration: Provision and optimize a Windows Server 2022 VPS (using a provider like AccuWeb or Contabo). Configure 4 concurrent Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Client Access Licenses (CALs) and set up 4 secure, individual user login profiles.Database Installation: Install and optimize Microsoft SQL Server Express Edition on the server. Ensure proper permissions and local database configurations are set.Software Setup & Migration: Install ASI SmartBooks on the server, connect it to the SQL Express database, and map the shared data directories. Assist with migrating our existing data files to the new environment.Environment Check: Test the setup to ensure all 4 users can log in simultaneously via RDP, access Excel/Outlook via Microsoft 365 shared-computer activation, and run the ERP smoothly without performance lag.Long-Term / Future WorkOnce this server is configured, we will need your help on an on-demand, hourly basis for:Handling major ASI SmartBooks software updates (1–2 times per year).Modifying user profiles or updating security permissions as our team evolves.Periodic performance checks or troubleshooting connection/database issues.Required Skills & QualificationsProven experience with Windows Server Administration (2019/2022) and Active Directory.Hands-on experience deploying and licensing Windows Remote Desktop Services (RDS / RDP).Experience installing and managing Microsoft SQL Server / SQL Express environments.Strong understanding of data security, user access controls, and automated backup strategies.Experience hosting desktop accounting or ERP systems in a VPS environment is highly preferred.How to ApplyPlease reply with your relevant experience, your estimated hours to complete this initial setup, and your standard hourly rate for future on-demand support.
