I want a native Windows desktop application that lets fleet managers monitor every aspect of their vehicles from one clean, clutter-free dashboard. The interface must stay simple and minimalistic—think quick-glance widgets, drag-and-drop calendar slots, and clear colour cues—so a manager can find the next service date or missing spare part in seconds, even on a busy yard.
Core workflow modules to deliver:
• Maintenance scheduling (calendar, reminders, mileage/engine-hour triggers)
• Parts inventory management (stock levels, reorder points, supplier links)
• Service history tracking (labour, parts used, invoices, attachments)
• Driver & conductor details (licences, medicals, incident logs)
• Tax & regulatory tracking (road tax, insurance, compliance dates)
Primary users will be fleet managers, so every screen should default to fleet-level views with drill-downs rather than mechanic-centric forms.
Technical expectations
• Built for current Windows desktops in C#, .NET (WPF or WinUI) or an equivalent technology that delivers fast local performance and easy future maintenance.
• Local database (SQLite, SQL Server Express, or similar) with a clean DAL so it can be swapped for a cloud backend later.
• Clear, consistent UI styling; no unnecessary animations, but do include keyboard shortcuts and print-friendly reports.
• Source-controlled project handed over in Git with build instructions.
Acceptance criteria
1. I install from a single MSI/EXE, run it, and land on an empty fleet dashboard with no errors.
2. I can add a vehicle, schedule a job, consume a part, and watch inventory update automatically.
3. A one-click report exports complete service history to PDF.
4. All upcoming tax, inspection, or licence expiries appear in a summary widget and trigger a desktop notification.
Hand-over items: full source code, installer, schema script, brief user guide, and UI mock-ups/Figma files.
If you have previous fleet or asset-management work, screenshots or a quick demo video would be helpful when we speak.
