I have completed the manuscript of a health and wellness book focused on weight management, healthy living, yoga, lifestyle, Ayurveda, movement, sleep, stress, healthy ageing and sustainable habits.

The manuscript is already substantially written and structured into chapters. I am now looking for an experienced book editor and book designer/typesetter to take the manuscript to professional publishing standard.

This is not a ghostwriting project and I am not looking for someone to rewrite the book from scratch.

The work involves final proofreading, professional interior book design, typesetting, formatting, and completion of the back cover. The manuscript is substantially finalized and does not require major rewriting or structural editing.

The attached manuscript will be provided to shortlisted freelancers.

What I Will Provide

I will provide:

Complete manuscript
Final chapter structure
Front cover design
Author photograph
Back-cover text
Any required author information
Photographs/images where required
Existing design direction/brand preferences

The freelancer will be responsible for turning these materials into a professionally finished book ready for publication.

1. Editorial Review & Proofreading

The manuscript requires a final professional editorial pass.

Please review for:

Grammar
Spelling
Punctuation
Sentence flow
Awkward wording
Repetition
Inconsistent terminology
Typographical errors
Capitalization
Formatting inconsistencies
Chapter heading consistency
Subheading consistency
Paragraph consistency
American English usage
Overall readability

The writing style is intentionally:

conversational
simple
warm
accessible
non-academic
engaging
suitable for general readers

Please preserve the author's voice.

Do not turn the manuscript into an academic textbook or make the language unnecessarily sophisticated.

Minor rewriting for clarity and grammar is welcome, but major rewriting, removal of the author's personality, or changing the overall message is not required.

2. Content Consistency Check

Please check the complete manuscript for internal consistency.

This includes:

Chapter numbering
Chapter titles
Chapter subtitles
Heading hierarchy
Repeated terminology
Inconsistent spellings
Repeated explanations
Obvious contradictions
Incorrect cross-references
Formatting inconsistencies

If you identify something that appears factually questionable or requires author confirmation, flag it rather than silently changing the meaning.

3. Professional Interior Book Design

I need the book to look like a professionally published health/wellness book, not like a Word document.

Please create a clean, elegant and highly readable interior design.

The design should be:

Minimal
Premium
Warm
Modern
Calm
Professional
Highly readable
Appropriate for a health/wellness book

Please avoid:

Overly decorative layouts
Excessive graphics
Flashy colours
Fitness/gym-style design
Excessive visual elements
Complicated typography

The book should feel trustworthy and premium without looking expensive or intimidating.

4. Typesetting & Page Layout

Professional typesetting is required, including:

Page size appropriate for the final book
Margins
Gutters
Paragraph spacing
Line spacing
Indents where appropriate
Chapter-opening pages
Heading hierarchy
Subheading hierarchy
Page numbering
Running headers/footers where appropriate
Consistent typography
Widow/orphan control
Proper paragraph breaks
Consistent spacing throughout
Image placement
Captions where required
Blank pages where technically necessary
Print-safe layout

The final result should look like a professionally typeset published book.

5. Chapter Design

Each chapter should have a consistent visual identity.

For example:

Chapter Number

Chapter Title

Subtitle

Then the chapter content.

The freelancer may recommend improvements to the visual treatment of chapter openings, typography, spacing and section headings, but the overall design should remain simple and readable.

6. Images / Photographs

Where photographs or illustrations are supplied, they should be:

Properly cropped
Properly positioned
High enough resolution for print
Consistently formatted
Integrated naturally into the page design

I may also provide photographs specifically intended for the book.

Please do not distort or unnecessarily manipulate supplied photographs.

7. Back Cover Design

I already have the front cover.

I will provide:

Author photograph
Back-cover text
Relevant author information

The freelancer needs to design the back cover so that it visually belongs to the same book as the front cover.

The back cover should include appropriate space/design treatment for:

Back-cover description
Author photograph
Author bio
Author name
Publisher information if required
ISBN/barcode area if required

The freelancer should maintain visual continuity with the supplied front cover rather than creating an unrelated design.

8. Complete Cover / Print-Ready Cover

After the interior page count is finalized, the freelancer should prepare the complete print cover where required:

Front + Spine + Back

The spine width will depend on the final page count and paper specifications.

The freelancer should therefore prepare the final cover according to the specifications of the intended printer/publishing platform.

9. Deliverables

I expect the following final files:

Interior
Print-ready PDF
Editable source file
High-resolution images embedded appropriately
Final formatted manuscript
Cover
Print-ready complete cover PDF
Editable cover source file
Front + spine + back cover
Web/marketing version of the cover if recommended
Optional / if applicable

Separate high-resolution front-cover JPG/PNG

Please specify in your quotation which of these formats are included in your price.

10. Technical Quality

The final files must be suitable for professional printing.

Please ensure:

Correct bleed
Correct margins
Correct colour mode
Correct image resolution
Embedded fonts where required
No missing fonts
No accidental RGB/CMYK issues
No low-resolution images
No text outside printable areas
Correct page sequencing
Correct spine alignment
Print-safe PDF export
