I need a straightforward browser application that lets users create 2-D drawings directly on screen. For this first phase the focus is limited to basic CAD elements—lines, rectangles, circles, text, arcs —with snap, select, move, scale, delete, undo and redo. Please keep the architecture clean and modular so more advanced geometry can be added later.
The app must work smoothly on modern desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari) with no plug-ins. A responsive layout for large screens is enough; mobile support is out of scope for now.
You may use any suitable front-end stack. Canvas, SVG or WebGL are all fine, and libraries such as Fabric.js, Paper.js, or Konva can speed development as long as licensing stays permissive and the final code is well commented.
Deliverables
• Single-page web app that opens instantly and lets me draw, edit and delete the basic shapes above.
• Export of the drawing to a common vector format (SVG or DXF).
• Clear build/run instructions and fully documented source code.
I will consider the project complete when I can open the start page on Windows or macOS, draw shapes, and export. Please tell me which technologies you plan to use, any similar work you have done and how you propose to slice the work into milestones.
I would like something developed by a human, not ai. Anyone can prompt a bot. I know I could dump this project description into Claude code and get a pretty good output. That contributes to the destruction of the software development profession and industry. If you genuinely love coding, and want to see the profession not get gobbled up by Grok or Anthropic, lets discuss.
