Our vSphere stack is heading to AWS and I want this move to be seamless, well-documented, and above all ready to scale. I already have the business case approved; what I need now is a hands-on specialist who understands both VMware and the core AWS services at an intermediate level—EC2, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, Storage Gateway, and related tooling.
The assignment centres on two things:
1. Crafting a clear migration strategy focused on elasticity and future growth.
2. Executing or guiding the actual cut-over of the current virtual machines and dependencies.
I will share an inventory of the existing hosts once we agree to proceed, but expect a typical mix of Windows and Linux guests, some shared datastores, and a few static IP requirements. You’ll help map those resources to AWS, design the network layout, size instances, and outline where native services can replace legacy components.
Deliverables
• High-level architecture diagram showing the target AWS layout
• Step-by-step migration playbook with rollback procedures
• Written recommendations (bullet points) on cost-optimisation and scaling policies
• Knowledge-transfer session once the first workload is live, so my in-house team can take over day-to-day operations
Success for me means every critical VM is running in AWS with minimal downtime and a documented path for scaling new workloads as demand grows. If this sounds like a challenge you can own, let’s talk schedules and milestones so we can get started right away.
