I have both an ESP8266 and an ESP32 on my bench and I need them to present themselves as a “virtual” Classic Bluetooth device—think along the lines of a transparent SPP link, but I’m open to other approaches that meet the same end-goal.

Your task is two-fold:
1. create the firmware (Arduino IDE or ESP-IDF—whichever you prefer) that enables Classic Bluetooth functionality on the hardware I already have, and
2. run a full round of testing.

For the testing phase I want concrete evidence that the link is solid: connectivity tests (pairing and reconnection cycles), performance tests (throughput, latency, RSSI under range), and interoperability tests across the target gear—smartphones, laptops and a few miscellaneous IoT modules I’ll provide specs for once we start.

I’ll flash the binaries here, so please include step-by-step flashing instructions and any pin considerations. A short write-up of the test plan and the resulting measurements will round off the deliverable.

If you’ve done SPP or Bluetooth Classic emulation on the ESP32 before, that’s exactly the experience I’m after; if you can coax the ESP8266 into a compatible role as well, even better.
