## Historical Cinematic Director / AI Video Editor Needed
We are looking for a highly capable **cinematic director / AI video editor** to take partially completed historical videos and bring them to a **premium, best-in-class finished standard**.
This is not a basic editing role. You will need to think like a **director**, not simply an editor.
## IMPORTANT — READ THIS BEFORE BIDDING
Most videos are approximately **5 minutes long**.
Unless a particular project states otherwise, your bid must be based on taking **one approximately 5-minute video that is already around 30–60% complete** and bringing it to the complete, final, publication-ready standard described below.
The starting percentage is only an approximate indication of the material already available. It is **not a guarantee of how many hours, shots, generations, revisions or tasks remain**.
You are bidding for the **completed finished result**, not for a specified number of editing hours.
### YOUR BID IS YOUR FINAL PRICE
**Do not place a bid unless you are genuinely willing and able to complete the full project for the amount you bid.**
If we click **Award**, your bid will be treated as your agreed price for completing the scope described in this listing.
You must make your own assessment before bidding of:
* The likely editing work required
* The quality of existing footage
* The possibility that scenes may need to be replaced
* The number of AI generations that may be required
* The likely amount of correction and quality control
* The software, tools and services you may require
* The time necessary to deliver the required standard
* Any other cost or resource necessary to complete the project
**Your failure to estimate the work correctly will not entitle you to increase your price after award.**
We will not accept requests for additional payment because:
* The project took longer than expected
* More AI generations were required than expected
* Existing footage was weaker than expected
* Additional editing was required
* AI credits were exhausted
* A third-party service increased its charges
* You underestimated the complexity
* You misunderstood the quality standard
* You need to subcontract part of the work
* You need additional software or services
* Your original bid was deliberately kept low in order to win the project
If you are not comfortable accepting this risk, **do not bid**.
## ALL COSTS MUST BE INCLUDED IN YOUR BID
Your bid must include **every cost necessary to complete the agreed project**, including, without limitation:
* AI video generation
* AI image generation
* Image-to-video generation
* AI enhancement
* AI upscaling
* AI voice or audio tools where required
* API charges
* Generation credits
* Third-party AI platforms
* Software subscriptions
* Editing software
* Rendering costs
* Cloud processing
* Stock footage
* Stock imagery
* Music
* Sound effects
* Fonts
* Plugins
* Assets
* Licensing costs
* Subcontractors
* Any other third-party production expense
**These costs are entirely the contractor's responsibility and are deemed included within the bid.**
No third-party charge will be reimbursed separately unless we have **expressly agreed to that specific expense in writing before it is incurred**.
You must not incur an expense and subsequently present it to us for reimbursement.
## NO AUTOMATIC RIGHT TO PAYMENT OR RELEASE OF MILESTONES
Payment is for a **completed and accepted deliverable**, not merely for time spent working.
Submission of a draft, preview, render, generation, revised version or purported final version does **not** automatically constitute completion or acceptance.
To the fullest extent permitted by the Freelancer platform and applicable law:
**No milestone or payment is considered earned, approved or releasable until we have reviewed the final deliverable and confirmed in writing that it has been accepted.**
The fact that you have spent time, purchased AI credits, incurred third-party costs or completed substantial work does not itself mean that the deliverable has been accepted.
Acceptance occurs only when **we expressly confirm acceptance**.
Silence, delay in responding, reviewing a file, downloading a file, requesting a revision, providing feedback, or continuing to communicate with you must **not** be treated as acceptance.
## SATISFACTION AND QUALITY REQUIREMENT
The purpose of this engagement is to deliver a finished video that meets the creative, historical, technical and production standards set out in this listing.
A deliverable will not be considered complete merely because:
* The video runs for approximately 5 minutes
* All timeline gaps have been filled
* Every scene contains footage
* The file exports successfully
* The contractor personally considers it finished
* The contractor has already completed several revisions
* The contractor has exhausted their allocated AI credits
* Further improvement would require additional work
The final work must be **acceptable to us following our review against the agreed brief and quality requirements**.
Where we identify reasonable issues relating to the agreed scope, quality standard, accuracy, continuity, AI artefacts, technical defects or creative execution, those issues must be corrected before final acceptance.
There will be **no argument that work is “good enough” merely because significant time has already been spent on it**.
## REVISIONS AND CORRECTIONS
Your bid must include all **reasonable revisions and corrections necessary to bring the project into conformity with the agreed brief and quality standard**.
Corrections required because of:
* Errors
* Weak generations
* AI artefacts
* Historical inaccuracies
* Continuity failures
* Poor editing decisions
* Failure to follow instructions
* Technical defects
* Incorrect assets
* Inconsistent characters
* Incorrect uniforms, weapons or props
* Poor-quality sound
* Missing required material
* Failure to implement previous feedback
are **not additional scope** and will not justify an additional fee.
This does not mean that entirely new work unrelated to the original agreed project can be added without agreement. If we request a genuine and material change to the original scope after work has commenced, any additional fee must be **agreed by us in writing before that additional work begins**.
You may not unilaterally decide that something constitutes extra scope and then charge for it.
## PREMIUM QUALITY STANDARD
**The required output must be premium quality and among the best available in the market.**
We are aiming for a level of finish that can stand alongside leading historical documentary, cinematic YouTube and premium digital productions.
SHOULD INCLUDE MUSIC AND VO FIXING AS REQUIRED
Every element should feel deliberate and professionally judged, including:
* Shot selection
* Composition
* Camera movement
* Pacing
* Continuity
* Lighting
* Character consistency
* Historical authenticity
* Sound design
* Music
* Transitions
* Visual storytelling
* Overall cinematic
