I want to take my Victron-based PV installation to the next level by driving everything through Node-RED on Venus OS Large, hosted on a Raspberry Pi. The hardware stack includes the Victron system itself, a Seplos battery pack and a heat pump. Your job is to build, test and document a set of Node-RED flows that bring the whole setup into a single, smart, fully automated loop.
What I need automated
• Battery management, heat-pump control and overall energy monitoring, all visible in one dashboard.
Battery-side features
• Charge/discharge scheduling aligned with tariffs or solar production
• State-of-charge monitoring presented in real time
• Peskshaving logic that caps grid draw during peaks
Heat-pump controls
• Precise temperature regulation
• Automatic heating/cooling mode switching
• Energy usage tracking
• Energy regulation and optimised usage based on available solar or battery reserve
Key technical notes
• Environment: Venus OS Large, Raspberry Pi, Victron dbus, MQTT and Modbus where relevant
• All flows should survive reboots and be clearly labelled so I can tweak them later.
• Any scripting or custom nodes must be provided with clear comments.
• A short read-me explaining installation and backup/restore steps is essential.
Success criteria
1. Flows import cleanly and show no Node-RED errors.
2. Battery, inverter and heat-pump metrics appear in the dashboard within 5 seconds of refresh.
3. Automated actions (charge scheduling, mode switching, peak-shaving cut-off) trigger reliably in a live test spanning at least one full solar day.
Once everything runs smoothly, please hand over the final flows, documentation and a quick video or screenshot walk-through so I can confirm the result.
