Use CAD software (solid modeling) to design a “cool and unique” penholder.
3D Print your design using a desktop printer (plastic extrusion based).

Subject Matter
Penholders are common office/study desk items. Take the advantages of “Geometric Freedom” of additive manufacturing and design a cool and unique penholder, considering that your customers are middle school students who are to pursue a major in the field of Arts and Industrial Designs. Each team needs to come up with a theme to represent their designed penholder, e.g., “Cardinal Thinker” penholder, and a brief description.

Requirements and Constraints
Maximum size: 175 mm by 175 mm, by 225 mm (height).
Absolutely NO copying ideas from anyone, anywhere. Inspired by someone’s idea would be OK, but you must list it as a reference and make principal modifications. You will be asked to provide the CAD models of your design.
The designed penholder should be printed from just one model file, not requiring any assembly from multiple parts after the print. In addition, no post-processing is allowed, e.g., fastening, gluing, painting, etc., except removing excess materials (e.g., support structures).
The designed penholder must include some components (at least 1) that are movable (sliding or rotating, or both) in reference to the penholder itself (think about parts like chains, bearings, gears, etc.). Such a movable feature must occur as printed, without any manual assembly. Further, the movable condition should not result in any internal stresses in the printed penholder.
Printing. Instead of using default/nominal process parameters, adjust at least one process parameter, e.g., layer thickness, raster width, print speed, etc., to some extent, but still achieve a failure-free print. Note that simply changing support structures will NOT be considered.

Manual and Software: https://www.creality.com/pages/download-ender-3-v3-ke. You will need to download the latest Creality Print (Fused deposition modeling Slicer software), e.g., CrealityPrint_7.2.0.5226_Release. The slicer software is needed to process your model, adjust process parameters/settings, etc., and generate an executable file, which you will transfer to the printer using a flash drive.
