Vancouver Student / Local Needed – IDS Trade Show Field Scout – Sep 25

We are an international furniture company looking for a reliable Vancouver-based student or local freelancer to attend IDS Vancouver on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, September 25–27, 2026, and conduct an onsite visual market survey.

This is not a professional photography assignment. The objective is systematic market documentation rather than artistic photography.

ASSIGNMENT
• Location: IDS Vancouver, Vancouver Convention Centre West, Vancouver, BC
• Date: Any one day from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27, 2026
• Estimated time: approximately 3 hours, 4 hours if needed to complete the entire exhibition
• Pay: C$25 per hour
• IDS admission/ticket reimbursed separately and not included in the hourly rate
• Equipment: a recent good-quality iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel or equivalent smartphone is sufficient

CORE TASK
Use the official IDS Vancouver floor plan / Digital Show Guide and systematically walk the ENTIRE exhibition, avoiding skipped aisles or sections.

PASS 1 — COMPLETE SHOW WALK
• Walk the exhibition systematically aisle by aisle.
• Record continuous or near-continuous smartphone walking video while walking through the exhibition.
• Think of this as a simple indoor “Street View” of the show.
• Capture enough visual information that someone who did not attend can later understand what exhibitors were there, where booths were located, what products were displayed and what the overall exhibition looked like.

PASS 2 — SPECIFIED STYLE-MATCHING BOOTHS
Spend additional time documenting exhibitor booths that feature furniture, products, materials, finishes or design concepts similar to the styles and product references specified by our company. We will provide the relevant style references or selection criteria.

For the specified style-matching booths, capture when available:
1. Company / brand name
2. Booth number
3. Overall booth view
4. Main products
5. Product closeups
6. Construction/details
7. Materials
8. Finish / colour
9. Publicly displayed price/specification cards
10. Brochures/catalogues

Do not interfere with exhibitors or violate photography/recording restrictions. No covert recording is required.

DELIVERY
Upload original files, preferably the same day. No editing is required. Keep original resolution whenever practical. If possible, organize files approximately by Aisle / Booth / Exhibition Zone, but do not spend excessive time renaming hundreds of files onsite; complete coverage is more important.

Architecture, interior design, industrial/product design, furniture design, photography/media, marketing and business students are especially welcome. Student status is preferred but not mandatory. A strong non-student candidate with relevant trade show, field research, mystery shopping, retail audit, photography/video or event experience is also welcome.
