I have a clean CSV of roughly 900 U.S. survey responses that already include ZIP code, state and region. I need two things produced from that file:
1. A static, publication-ready heat map of the United States that shades areas according to where respondents are most concentrated (not individual points). High-resolution PNG or PDF is fine as long as it can drop straight into a report.
2. An updated version of the dataset that adds a Köppen climate column for every respondent’s ZIP code. I’d like the full code (e.g., Cfa, BSk) plus a plain-language description in the same row.
You can bring your own workflow—R with ggplot2/tidyverse or Python with geopandas and the kgc library are both acceptable—as long as the final deliverables meet these criteria:
• Heat map clearly shows density gradients, includes a legend, and covers all U.S. states.
• New data file (CSV or Excel) preserves my original columns and adds “koppen_code” and “koppen_name”.
• Brief README or commented script outlining the steps so results are reproducible.
Once I send the data you can start right away.
