We run a Youtube channel that breaks down real criminal cases using police interrogation footage. I'm looking for an experienced editor to cut each episode in a documentary style, including a highly edited intro similar to channels like Bloodlines and Red Thread Interrogation.
Reference videos (the style I'm looking for):
What I provide for each episode:
- The interrogation footage
- Commentary and voiceover recordings
- Basic case details
What you'll do:
- Asset research: Find the aerial flyovers, mugshots, surveillance stills, news article screenshots and court documents for each case. Using Claude or ChatGPT makes this a quick process. Please double-check that every photo shows the right person, since many names are shared by unrelated people.
- Recap/intro (1–2 min): Case recap with date/time titles, location tags, polaroid photo drops, article highlight animations, a countdown timer, CCTV effects, color grading and sound design
- Footage section: Interrogation footage with commentary, subtitles and clean pacing
- Outro: Short closing segment
Pay:
- Recap/intro and outro: $40 flat per episode
- Main section: $1 per minute of final edited runtime (for example, 20 minutes = $20, 30 minutes = $30)
Requirements:
- Proven experience with documentary-style or true crime edits. Please include links to similar work. Applications without relevant samples won't be considered.
- Strong motion graphics skills
- Ability to build a reusable template so episodes stay consistent
- Capacity to handle 3–5 videos per week
- Good communication and reliable turnaround
This is ongoing work for the right editor.
To apply: Share 2–3 links to documentary-style edits you've done.
